Average Exchange Rate

Pick a currency and a date range: the buying, selling and mid rate of every CBRT bulletin in it is averaged. No bulletin is published on weekends or public holidays, so the average covers bulletin days only.

The list holds the currencies the CBRT publishes daily indicative rates for; each can be picked from the first bulletin of its own series.

How is it calculated?

Average rate = the sum of every CBRT bulletin's rates in the range ÷ the number of bulletins. The buying rate, the selling rate and their midpoint are averaged separately; no bulletin is published on weekends and public holidays, so those days are not counted.

A range can span up to five years. When it covers more than one month, each month's own average is listed too; the daily rates can be downloaded as a CSV with the CBRT attribution.

Worked example

In 2025, over 251 CBRT bulletins, the USD buying rate averaged ₺39.5062 and the selling rate ₺39.5774 (first bulletin Jan 2 2025, last Dec 31 2025).

Frequently asked questions

How is a monthly average rate calculated?

The rates in the CBRT bulletins published on the month's business days are added up and divided by the number of bulletins. Weekends and public holidays have no bulletin, so they are not part of the average.

Which rate is averaged: buying or selling?

All three: the buying rate, the selling rate and their midpoint are shown separately. Which rate applies depends on the transaction and the relevant rules; the tool does not choose one.

Is the yearly average the same as the 31 December rate?

No. The yearly average is the mean of every bulletin in the year; the year-end (31.12) rate is the rate of the year's last bulletin. Each year's last bulletin is listed in the 31.12 table of the official rate and exchange-rate difference calculator.

Do ECB or free-market rates enter the average?

No. This tool uses only the CBRT's exchange-rate bulletins; ECB reference rates and free-market prices are not part of the average.

Is the calculated average an official figure?

The CBRT publishes the daily rates; the average is calculated from them by ALTIN and is not a figure the CBRT publishes. Ask your accountant before using it in an official transaction.
