What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin (BTC) is the first cryptocurrency, launched in 2009 under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. It belongs to no bank or company: transactions are kept on a shared public ledger, the blockchain, that anyone can verify. New blocks are added by mining roughly every 10 minutes.
Total supply is capped at 21 million BTC, and the rate of new issuance halves about every four years (the halving). In Türkiye, Bitcoin trades directly against the Turkish lira on crypto exchanges; its price can swing sharply within a day.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Bitcoin's TRY price differ from its dollar price times the dollar rate?
On exchanges in Türkiye Bitcoin trades directly against the lira, so the price is set by that exchange's buyers and sellers. It can differ slightly from the dollar price times the USD/TRY rate; the gap reflects local demand and the cost of moving money.
Why are the buy and sell prices different?
The sell price is what you pay when you buy Bitcoin; the buy price is what you receive when you sell. The gap (the spread) is the distance between the best orders on the exchange, and it can widen when trading is thin.
Do I have to buy a whole Bitcoin?
No. A Bitcoin divides into 100 million satoshi, and exchanges allow very small purchases. The converter shows how much BTC any lira amount buys.
Where does the price on this page come from?
From live buy and sell prices on the Turkish crypto market. The source, data type and timestamp are written right under the price; if the data falls behind, an 'out of date' warning appears next to it.
