What is Ethereum?
Ethereum is a blockchain network, live since 2015, that can run smart contracts; its own currency is Ether (ETH). ETH pays for transactions on the network (gas). A large share of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications and stablecoins run on Ethereum.
With 'The Merge' in 2022 the network moved from mining to proof of stake. Unlike Bitcoin, ETH has no fixed supply cap. In Türkiye, ETH trades directly against the Turkish lira on crypto exchanges.
