Frequently Asked Questions

How much is 1 half coin (yarım) today?

As of Nov 3 2026 12:45:18, free market: 1 half coin (yarım, new minting) is 20,514 TL buy, 20,627 TL sell.

Is a half coin worth the same as two quarter coins?

In gold content, yes. In price, not always exactly: physical supply and the workmanship fee (işçilik) of each size differ, so a half coin need not cost exactly two quarters. The comparison is made on the two coins' current sell prices.

Why can its price move differently from gram gold?

Ornamental coins carry a premium or a discount over their gold content that depends on physical supply, minting volumes and seasonal demand, the wedding season above all.

How many grams is a half coin?

An ornamental half coin weighs 3.508 grams gross and contains 3.213 grams of fine gold, the weight of two ornamental quarters. The minted (sikke) half weighs 3.608 grams; the coin sold as “yarım altın” is the ornamental one.

What karat is a half coin?

22 karat (916/1000), the same as the quarter and the full coin. Gram gold is 24 karat.
